The Spencerette Baton Twirlers were formed in 1969 by the late Bob & Dorothy Spencer
The Corps is a founder member of The International Baton Twirling Association, which was formed in 1972, but was known then as the NBTA International.
Over the years the Corps have performed at many fete's, shows and carnivals, however this became difficult to maintain as many of the girls got older and started work.
The Corps are still members of the IBTA and now focus on their performances at contests as well as on improving the girls twirling technique through continuous learning and examinations.
Who's Who:
Gill Babb - Corps Director, The only original Spencerette in the Corps, twirled from 1969 through to 1979. Taught for the IBTA through years 1974 to the early '80's and judged from 1978 to the early '80's. Gill was the first ever IBTA Student Teacher of the Year, back in 1976 and holds overall responsibility for the organisation of the Corps.
Peter Babb - Corps Director, For many years Peter has actively supported Gill until he was promoted to Corps Director, by Dorothy Spencer, The founder of the Corps.
Tracy Elkins - Co-Director. Tracy has been with the Corps since she was 8 years old and was promoted to Co-Director to acknowledge her dedication and committment to the Corps. She is still an active member of the Corps.
Kelly Dacombe - Co-Director. Kelly has also been with the Corps for a number of years and again has shown dedication and committment to the Corps
Becky Taylor - Co-Director. Becky joined the Corps from Illusion and has been our Sole Coach for the past 2 years. Becky is our newest Co-director and has shown that she is very worthy of the title.
And Two IBTA qualified Teachers:
Kelly Dacombe - Kelly has been with the Corps for too many years to mention and has progressed from being a Corps member to an IBTA Teacher and now soon to be a fully qualified IBTA Judge Too. Well Done Kelly!
Becky Taylor - Becky joined the Corps a couple of years ago, having been a member of Illusion, a Baton Twirling Corps, directed by her mum Joyce. Becky has been involved in Baton Twirling most of her life.
